This is an outstanding opportunity to make your mark by ensuring the Trust’s nature reserves in the Mendip Hills are brilliant sites for wildlife and for people to experience wildlife. Working in one of the most wildlife-rich and habitat-rich counties in Britain, you will manage a large portfolio of nature reserves in this lovely part of the country.

You will be responsible for the planning, organisation, implementation and review of all management work for a large number of nature reserves in the Mendip Hills. This is a well-established and rewarding role which offers the opportunity to be part of a motivated, fun and dynamic team. You will organise the work of an Assistant Nature Reserves Manager, volunteers, contractors and graziers to ensure our nature reserves deliver the best opportunities for wildlife.

You will be a confident, resilient and self-motivated individual who will inspire and motivate others to make a real and positive difference to conservation in Somerset. You will have substantial experience of practical reserves management, relevant experience of budgets and management of projects, organisational skills and supervising of contracts. A sound knowledge of biological survey and monitoring techniques and working knowledge of current conservation and issues and methods is essential. You should be physically fit, be willing to work flexibly and possess the necessary ‘tickets’ and/or certificates to operate a range of machinery and equipment as per the job description.
