Due to an increase in the number of projects being undertaken and a continued focus on sustainability, Berkeley Homes (Eastern Counties) is looking to appoint a Graduate Sustainability Advisor. This is a new role which will provide the right candidate with unique opportunity to help promote sustainability across all areas of the business. Whilst reporting directly to the Berkeley Homes (Eastern Counties) Sustainability Advisor the individual will also be part of a wider Sustainability Team working across different areas of the Berkeley Group.

What will you do?

Core responsibilities will include:

  • Undertaking sustainability reviews of live construction sites to ensure compliance with legal and company requirements. These reviews will focus on areas including waste management, pollution prevention, protecting ecology, energy & water efficiency and mitigating nuisance.
  • Assist with Sustainability and Our Vision reporting to senior management        
  • Help format and maintain key sustainability forms, trackers, reports and documentation
  • Researching new products and best practice in order to provide Project Teams with recommendations for improvement.
  • Tracking progress against company sustainability targets by collating, analysing and reporting data relating to energy water and waste along with other KPIs.
  • Developing ways to clearly communicate progress to a variety of audiences.
  • Providing updates on sustainability initiatives to staff and contractors.
  • Assist with training for all staff on sustainability and Our Vision
  • Working with office staff to develop initiatives to improve sustainability.
  • Keeping up-to-date with the sustainability agenda and new legislation to understand how it may affect business activities

 Who are we looking for?

The right candidate will hold a degree in a relevant subject and will be passionate about promoting sustainability. You must also be confident, articulate and resilient in your approach, with the ability to apply sustainability principles in a commercially focused manner. You will also have:

  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Confidence in working with a variety of different people
  • The ability to motivate people to change their behaviour
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • The ability to work independently
  • An understanding of sustainability issues within the construction/house building industry
  • A level of computer literacy, with experience in the use of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • A Full UK Driving License
