Heritage Environmental Ltd (HEL) are seeking to employ an Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) to assist primarily with the construction of a wind farm on an upland site in The Highlands.

Candidates should have significant level of ECoW experience and will preferably have worked on upland wind farm sites in Scotland. They will also possess a range of ecological surveying skills and be competent in upland ornithology, botany and survey of terrestrial mammals. Candidates must be capable of producing well-written reports and be able to express clear and concise verbal information to site contractors. Candidates will also be expected to be able to demonstrate knowledge of water management and sedimentation control and be proficient in undertaking the following duties:

  • Producing detailed weekly reports and mitigation plans;
  • Providing toolbox talks to construction contractors;
  • Liaising with site representatives;
  • Overseeing licensed works and mitigation implementation;
  • Monitoring compliance with site specific documents; and
  • Monitoring effectiveness of mitigation measures and adjusting where necessary.

The ECoW will be expected to be on site for 4 days each week (Monday – Thursday inclusive); accommodation and vehicle will be provided if necessary. Successful candidates will initially be offered a four month contract beginning on 28 May 2018. 

Surveyors must hold a full UK driving licence. Membership of CIEEM is a requirement.
