AES Sustainability Consultants Ltd is an award winning consultancy firm that works with some of the leading UK housebuilders and developers, delivering high quality sustainability advice and assessments to the construction industry.

Amongst our specialist services, we pride ourselves on the quality and accuracy of the calculations that we undertake as part of our residential energy assessments using the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP). Delivering these services to the award winning level of accuracy and professionalism at AES requires extensive technical knowledge from our consultants and an in depth understanding of the calculation software that we utilise.

We are looking to recruit enthusiastic, self-motivated graduates who will assess energy consumption and CO2 emissions using the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) methodology and provide consultancy services in relation to residential development.

Our extensive training program provides support and mentoring to develop technical knowledge of the building industry and expertise in the use of the calculation software for SAP and U-value calculations. We aim to support all our graduates in developing their expertise to become professional and knowledgeable sustainability consultants.

The successful candidate will be a team player with the ability to build good working relationships with clients. Good attention to detail is essential as the role requires a high degree of accuracy and organisation skills.

Job responsibilities include:

  • Completing internal training in relation to the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP) used to assess compliance with Part L of the Building Regulations – Conservation of Fuel and Power. Please click here and here for further information regarding this
  • Provision of SAP assessments and consultancy to enable clients to develop cost effective solutions to achieve compliance with Part L
  • Provision of support to colleagues in relation to the delivery of a range of sustainability services and assessments
  • Active engagement with clients and design teams to ensure that sustainability requirements are taken into consideration and achieved over the lifecycle of the development

On going training will be provided but candidates will preferably:

  • Have experience of, or a technical interest in the building industry
  • Be computer literate and have a good level of general education, particularly in Maths, Science and English.
  • Have an ability to visualise in 3D and interpret technical drawings
  • Be able to self manage a busy and time-critical schedule of work
  • Have prior experience in a client-facing situation
  • Have excellent communication skills - verbal and written
  • Be a team player and maintain good humour in times of stress
  • Possess a full driving license as travel to meetings will be required as career progresses
  • Be self motivated and able to deal with a fast-moving, high pressure environment

Furthermore, the successful candidate would be at an advantage if they:

  • Have a technical, construction or sustainability related qualification
  • Are familiar with Building Regulations throughout the UK and in particular in relation to the conservation of fuel and power

Contract: Full time, permanent position - a six-month probation period applies.
