Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is seeking a ‘Sunrise’ Biodiversity Projects Officer

Pay Band – Senior Officer: £21,402 - £25,499 (dependent on experience)
Full time, 35 hrs per week
Fixed-term 3 year post initially

The ‘Sunrise’ Project is an exciting, high profile major programme of works to link, buffer, restore and recreate wildlife habitats across the project area of Stoke and Newcastle-under-Lyme. Sitting within the remit of the Trust’s Conservation Delivery Team, the project has a particular focus on riverside improvements, woodland management and wildflower grassland restoration.

The post holder is responsible for planning and delivering a number of projects on green spaces across the project area, working closely with the programme manager and project partners.

The job will suit somebody with:

  • A suitable higher education qualification in conservation, rural land management or ecological based subjects.
  • Experience of planning and delivering a programme of practical biodiversity improvement works on sites across the project area, including contract management.
  • Good people skills to be a main point of contact for members of the public and to ensure ongoing liaison with the local community throughout the project.
  • Experience of working with volunteers, ‘Friends of’ and other community groups to deliver small scale conservation works.
  • Enthusiasm to deliver real benefits to wildlife, and a positive and passionate work attitude

The postholder will be based within our core team at the Wolseley Centre, near Stafford, but frequent travel to and around the project area and some working from Stoke City Council Offices will be required. Hence a full driving licence is essential.
