An exciting opportunity to work as a Project Officer for Litter Free Coast. There is an innovative local campaign to reduce marine and beach litter and improve bathing water quality from across Dorset, Bournemouth and Poole (including marine litter).

Litter Free Coast and Sea started five years ago in 2012. It runs events like the Annual Great Dorset Beach Clean and also runs campaigns and projects to try and change behaviour to reduce litter and improve bathing water quality at source. The Litter Free Project Officer will be working in a small enthusiastic team based in County Hall, Dorchester.

The team has some exciting work planned for the next year including:

  • Developing our work with businesses to reduce plastic food and drink related packing
  • Working with businesses in Swanage to reduce the amount of fats, oils and greases clogging up the sewerage system
  • Running an “Only Rain Down the Drain” campaign with Poole Park Life
  • Developing and running a Plastic Free Day for communities to get involved in

The Litter Free Project Officer will be the lead for these projects as well as working with the rest of the team to develop and deliver campaigns.

You should have excellent communications, behavioural change and community engagement skills. Familiarity with the Dorset coast would be advantageous. You should have some project management experience.

This post is part time (18.5 hours per week) fixed-term contract for one year initially. Funding will be sought to continue this role and/or extend hours if possible.
