The York branch has been running environmental projects in the York area since 1986. We are seeking an enthusiastic, adaptable and committed person to join our York & North Yorkshire team for this important post.

This key post holder will manage a number of projects but primarily the well-established Vale of York Volunteer Group. This volunteer group delivers a varied programme of potentially large scale practical environmental projects in urban York and rural North Yorkshire every week throughout the year. This role is primarily office based.

Key responsibilities of this post include, but are not limited to - managing, supporting and occasionally supervising teams of up to 14 volunteers carrying out practical projects; developing and planning weekly paid practical project work through liaising with partners and land managers; developing plans and quotes for clients; managing Key Volunteers and Voluntary Officers; budget and contract management as well as resource management and logistics, together with publicity and fundraising.

The successful applicant will have had several years of experience working in the environment sector or similar, have significant experience of business development and income generation. Be able to manage a budget, contracts and financial planning. Plan practical projects including ordering materials and other logistics. Be able to demonstrate an understanding of a range of practical conservation tasks, experience in supervising groups of people, an ability to communicate effectively with people with varying abilities and levels of influence, together with personal qualities of resourcefulness and flexibility.
