ORCA has been promoting wildlife watching and research on board ferries since 1996. ORCA has been working in partnership with DFDS Seaways for over a decade, developing our research, education and conservation projects in the North Sea. In 2018, we are excited to be starting up a new Wildlife Officer programme on board the DFDS Newhaven – Dieppe route across the English Channel. The successful applicant will be responsible for setting up a new Wildlife Officer programme on board and to forge relationships with the on board crew and the DFDS team in the U.K. and France.

Every year, our team of Wildlife Officers reach tens of thousands of people on board and help hundreds of people spot their first ever whale or dolphin. ORCA is looking for an enthusiastic, energetic, driven and conservation-minded individual with the passion to enthuse others, to deliver the Wildlife Officer programme on board the DFDS Newhaven - Dieppe ferry.

This role provides the opportunity to contribute to one of ORCA’s core work areas and champion English Channel marine wildlife to the public.

Due to the passenger demographic on board, we are looking for a Wildlife Officer that speaks English and French fluently.

Working hours are 37.5 hours a week, for a 7 week fixed term contract from W/C 11th June to the W/C 30th July 2018.  You will work 7.5 hours a day, but live on board (Wednesday to Sunday) and then two consecutive off (Monday & Tuesday).

For more details, please read the job description and personal specification, which can be found on the Vacancies page of the ORCA website.

To apply, please complete an application form and send, along with your C.V. to info@orcaweb.org.uk with “English Channel Wildlife Officer Application” in the subject line.

The closing date for applications is midnight on Sunday 18th March 2018 and interviews will be taking place the week commencing 2nd April. We may conduct second round interviews for this position.
