The role

Are you passionate about policy? Do you want to contribute to the development of effective policy improvements for the world’s leading fisheries certification organisation?

We’re looking for a Senior Policy Manager, who can coordinate the MSC’s policy development programme, including reviews of MSC standards. You will be responsible for the process of policy change. You will:

  • deliver effective stakeholder engagement, driving improvement of tools and processes needed.
  • coordinate bi-annual consultation events and ensure top quality policy papers are presented to governance bodies.
  • manage change to the documents holding the MSC’s growing number of Standards and Certification Requirements, always ensuring best practice is reflected in our work.

You’ll also be responsible for designing, delivering and evaluating training programs for the certifiers who assess the fisheries and supply chain companies against the MSC Standards and other stakeholders. You will make sure they are competent and that changes to policy are well communicated.

Your work is critical to delivering the confidence and support of key stakeholders, and ensuring that the MSC program is successful.

You will:

  • Have excellent program and/or project management skills;
  • Have experience in policy development including complex stakeholder engagement, product certification programs and/or collaborative scientific research, preferably in an international context;
  • Have excellent knowledge of training methods for technical/science audiences; and
  • Be a creative thinker and problem-solver, able to remain composed in high-pressure situations.
