The Estates & Facilities department of Birmingham City University seeks to recruit a suitably experienced and qualified person to undertake the role of Carbon and Energy Reduction Officer (CERO). The person appointed will act as the catalyst for improvement and commitment to prioritising, developing and implementing a range of carbon reduction initiatives that will achieve challenging reduction targets through direct actions and influence on University staff, students and in business transactions. The CERO will develop policies and practices for the University in line with its Carbon Management Plan and the government Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) target and implement a programme to deliver it.

The post involves regular contact with members of staff, students, consultants, local authorities, agencies, energy suppliers, and contractors. The successful candidate will have a degree in a relevant subject with suitable experience in all aspects of energy management and possess excellent communication, IT skills and with, or working towards, membership of a relevant professional body.
