Worcestershire Wildlife Consultancy is a successful and growing ecological consultancy providing services to local authorities, industry, developers, government agencies and conservation organisations. We are looking for an Assistant Consultancy Ecologist due to the imminent retirement of a member of staff. The post is a .75 permanent position subject to satisfactory completion of the probationary period.

Ideally you will have a minimum of two years professional experience after a relevant degree and be a member of the Chartered Institute of Ecology and Environmental Management (CIEEM) or be eligible for membership. The ability to assist/undertake Phase 1 habitat surveys and ecological assessments will be required. Experience of survey and mitigation for UK protected species is also required and the desire and ability to develop a specialism in one or more protected species.

The successful candidate will assist with the management of individual contracts working within set budgets and deadlines, under the supervision of senior Consultancy staff. This will involve liaison with clients and other environmental professionals therefore, previous experience of these elements is essential. You must have the ability to produce clear, concise reports.

This is a .75 post based at Worcestershire Wildlife Consultancy’s offices near Worcester, with work throughout the West Midlands and more widely across the U.K. The post holder will be expected to work on a full time basis (35 hours per week) between the months of April – December inclusive, then three days per week between October – December and then 2 days per week between January – March in any given year. 

The project-based nature of our work means that there will be a requirement to undertake such travel as is necessary to successfully carry out contracts. The willingness to undertake evening /night work is essential and there may be the need for overnight stays on occasions. You will need to be flexible, professional, versatile and committed to furthering nature conservation through our consultancy work.
