The National Marine Aquarium is an award-winning charity with a mission to ‘connect us with our oceans’. We're committed to conserving the marine environment and inspiring others to do the same.

Our Schools Programme is exceptional in its field and has been evaluated over the course of 10 years to show that not only do our sessions cover the National Curriculum, but also promote an interest and love of the marine environment for the students that take part. We are currently looking for the right person to join our Discovery and Learning team and take on the role of Schools Assistant.

This role will predominantly focus on the delivery of the National Marine Aquarium’s exceptional discovery and learning activities with audiences from EYFS to higher education. We are therefore looking for someone with excellent, adaptable teaching skills. The successful candidate will also be responsible for the preparation and upkeep of schools’ areas and resources, and so will be required to prove that they have a highly organised and creative mind, with an ability to work under pressure as part of a team.

They will need to possess a high standard of written and oral English and be energetic with a positive mind set and a passion for the education of school students.

Training

The successful applicant will receive our full training programme to enable effective delivery of our full range of schools’ activities including tours, talks, outreach, shows and science/art/media workshops.

Hours

They will work 22.5 hours over 5 days a week (with some out of hours work required when necessary).

Salary

£15,893 pro rata
