We are looking for a knowledgeable, organised and creative individual to run a new and exciting program of marine-themed events in Aberdeen. Your will be responsible for:

  • Delivering schools education to inspire the next generation about marine & coastal wildlife, habitats and conservation issues
  • Recruiting and managing a team of volunteers to support schools work
  • Year-round community events, working in collaboration with local groups
  • Planning and running a Dolphin Festival in 2019
  • Managing the seasonal Dolphinwatch team to ensure a high standard of visitor engagement is delivered and targets for visitor numbers, memberships and fundraising are met

Bottlenose dolphins will be an important part of your message but you will also link to key conservation issues such as seabird declines. You will have a good knowledge of marine biology, with the ability to deliver fun, engaging and educational interpretation in different settings. You will have experience of achieving membership/fundraising targets, organising and running events and managing volunteers. Self-motivated, confident and with a will to succeed, you will represent RSPB Scotland and make a difference by increasing public awareness and growing support for nature.

Dolphinwatch is a ScottishPower Foundation and Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) funded project led by RSPB Scotland in partnership with Aberdeen City Council, Whale & Dolphin Conservation (WDC) and the Aberdeen Harbour Board with telescopes and binoculars supplied by Viking Optical.
