The Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) is an upland landscape on the eastern edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Volunteering is well-established in several separate groups including a registered charity called Friends of Nidderdale AONB, Nidderdale Conservation Volunteers, the AONB Dry Stone Waller and groups dedicated to biological and historic environment surveys. We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced person to take charge of our existing groups of volunteers, to organise and supervise a programme of conservation work, and to coordinate volunteer surveys.

The successful candidate will be responsible for volunteer training, organising events, and for developing new volunteering opportunities in conjunction with the AONB’s partner organisations.

The Volunteer Coordinator will work from the AONB’s office in Pateley Bridge alongside other AONB staff working on heritage and nature conservation projects with a wide range of partners including farmers and landowners, the local community, third sector organisations and local authorities.

The post is permanently funded for 15 hours per week, however an additional 7 hours are funded on a temporary basis for three years and the post holder will be expected to cover these additional hours.

A full driving licence and access to a car is essential.
