Are you looking for that first step into a career in Waste Management?

Borough of Poole is looking to recruit an Environmental Development Officer.

Joining a team of four other Officers, you will work in our Commercial Office(s) based at the Household Waste Recycling Centre, Nuffield or Bournemouth Community Recycling Centre, Millhams. You will be required to work at both sites on a rota basis.

The main focus of the post is to provide a high level of customer service to both our residents and commercial customers, face to face, on the phone and in writing. The work is varied, as part of a small but busy team you will be responsible for collating and handling data relating to waste management including some financial management around billing, invoicing, taking payments and some selling of our commercial services.

You will be committed to high standards of accuracy as attention to detail is a must. Use of a number of databases is required, however full training will be given.

As part of the Environmental Development team which manages waste and open spaces you’ll be committed to improving Poole’s environment. It would be an advantage to have experience or knowledge of waste disposal, but it is more important that you are an excellent communicator and a strong team player and will fully engage in working towards the Council’s purpose and values.

The Environmental Development Officer will play an active role in a multi-skilled team and there will be plenty of opportunities to develop your own skills and contribute to the direction of the service.

For an informal discussion please contact Angela Harris (Commercial & Logistics Supervisor) on 01202 262519 or Rachel Davies (Waste Strategy Manager) on 01202 261702.
