Cambridgeshire is an area of significant planned growth. The co-ordination and management of flood risk activities across the County is an essential part of ensuring that new and existing communities are safe and sustainable. The Flood Risk and Biodiversity Team at Cambridgeshire County Council plays a key role in this through the management of projects and data and the provision of technical input to schemes and planning applications. Due to an internal promotion and to help deliver their responsibilities under the Flood and Water Management Act (2010), the Flood Risk and Biodiversity Team is seeking an Assistant Flood and Water Officer to join the team on a 2 year fixed term position.

The post holder will work closely with officers in the Place & Economy Service and across Cambridgeshire's five District/City Councils. You will be required to support the County Council’s surface water flood risk planning role, flood investigation role and other flood risk management activities that the team undertakes.

This is a customer facing role so good written and oral communication skills and interpersonal skills are essential. Ability to use GIS and databases to manage data would be beneficial but training will be given.

This role will suit graduates wishing to get into the flood and water management sector or those with previous experience of a business support role organising data and communications for a busy team.

Interviews will take place on Monday 5th or Friday 9th March 2018

For an informal discussion please contact: Hilary Ellis at or telephone 01223 703289.
