About Resource Futures

Resource Futures is committed to a vision of everybody using resources sustainably. We are a purpose-driven company which contributes to the communities we work and live in. Our core values of integrity, independence and commitment are what make us different. We are a B-Corp certified ethical employer.

About the role

Resource Futures is recruiting a Waste and Recycling Advisor. The aim of this post is to promote recycling and waste prevention in the Northern areas of Devon (specifically the District Council areas of North Devon, Torridge and Mid Devon). It is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on experience in behavioural change work within the environmental field.

Main duties will include talking with residents on their doorstep, promoting recycling/waste prevention and discussing any problems residents may be experiencing, attending roadshows and other events, as well as some periods of monitoring (i.e. logging down which houses are/are not participating in recycling and which are contaminating their recycling), for which full training will be given.

The post will involve extensive travelling across the three districts specified above in blocks of time in each area. Whilst we support sustainable travel, many of the locations will not be accessible by public transport. You will therefore have a full, clean driving licence plus access to a car and willingness to drive on a daily basis, or another suitable method of travel. The post holder is likely to be asked to distribute some recycling containers as part of their daily work.

Some home working may be required but you will also hot desk at Local Council offices where appropriate.

Working arrangements

Post holders will be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week. Some flexible working will be required such as early mornings and weekends.

Successful candidate will live in or very near one of the following areas listed above.

There are two other Waste and Recycling Advisors already in post and all of you will support each other in your roles as needed. Day to day management of your role will be by local authority officers in the three districts and line management support and training will be provided by Resource Futures.

Closing date for applications Friday 23 February, 9am

Interview date  Wednesday 28 February 2018 in Exeter

Start date Provisionally, week commencing Tuesday 3 April 2018
