Assistant Scientist

Circa £18,102- £20,610 depending on experience.

Meteor have been successfully designing, building and installing environmental monitoring and control solutions for over 25 years. We make it simple to obtain high quality, real time data in a secure, accessible way. We build complete monitoring station solutions. Built into kiosks or wall panels these contain flowcells, pump controlled flow, online analysers all controlled remotely using our integrated telemetry system.

Opportunities now exist for enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals to join our Water Instrumentation Services team in the laboratory. We have an extensive network of monitoring equipment delivering real time data to a range of customers from private sector to government agencies. Working in the lab you will assist in the cleaning and maintenance of a wide range of water quality monitoring equipment. In addition, you will assist in the operation of our quality assurance system.

Qualifications / Experience:

Successful candidates will have:

  • an interest in science;
  • ideally have some relevant vocational experience or knowledge/experience working in a laboratory;
  • be self-motivated and willing to work both as part of a team and independently;
  • competent problem solver with attention to detail; and
  • have good communication skills.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities would include:

  • reconditioning of water quality instrumentation;
  • calibration and servicing of instrumentation; and
  • collation, and interpretation of water quality data and information.

The successful candidate will receive training. The role will be based in Reading initially for a 12-month period.
