An independent consultancy based on the border of Kent, East Sussex and Surrey, Greenspace Ecological Solutions is committed to achieving pragmatic ecological advice across a range of disciplines and are seeking a highly motivated Senior Ecologist or Ecologist to join the team.

The successful candidate will enjoy that all important balance between field and office work, whilst working on a variety of projects across a range of sectors. Our portfolio includes town expansions, housing, commercial, education, health care, recreation and utilities projects.

As a company we provide a detailed working knowledge of the planning process and policies and of the relevant UK and EU legislation. Over the years we have developed a reputation for high quality work and we therefore seek individuals with drive, passion and ideas.

Working as part of a team, you will manage a variety of projects from initial contact to completion, provide ecological advice, organise and undertake habitat and protected species surveys, technical reports, management plans and EPSM licence applications.

As a Senior Ecologist you would also be producing and liaising on tenders, EIA, EcIA, HRA and BREEAM assessments, whilst assisting in the mentoring of more junior members of the team, whilst contributing to continued company growth.

Personal Specification:

  • A proven track record of working within commercial ecology consultancy;
  • A degree or postgraduate degree (or equivalent) in ecology or a related subject;
  • A member of CIEEM;
  • Experience of conducting a range of ecological surveys and a good working knowledge of British fauna and flora;
  • Experience in the production of technical reports, method statements, management plans and in the design and implementation of cost and time efficient mitigation strategies; Seniors require experience of the production of tenders, EIA, EPSM licences and BREEAM assessments;
  • Detailed working knowledge of the planning process and policies and UK / EU wildlife legislation;
  • Hold one or more protected species licence (Level 2 Bat Licence desirable);
  • Proven track record of project management and client liaison, allowing you to communicate clearly with clients, third parties (NE, LPAs) and colleagues;
  • Have a pro-active, forward thinking attitude, capable of working to tight timeframes when needed;

The salary and job specification will be dependent on experience and skillset and in response a wide range of candidates are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be eligible to work in the UK/European Economic Area and hold a full UK driving licence with access to a car to use for work.
