ABOUT US The Woodland Trust is embarking on an ambitious 10 year vision which is aimed at strengthening the role of woods and trees in our landscapes and communities, with a strong focus on the connection between people, woods and trees. Part of the vision includes a focus on developing a more localised approach to engaging with our members and the wider public through our woodlands and partnerships, providing great engagement opportunities and high quality visitor experiences which will attract large numbers of visitors to our sites and generate volunteering opportunities that add value to our work.

THE ROLE The role is based in the Central region. This covers from Norfolk through to Shropshire as well as half of Lincolnshire. There is a regional map attached at the bottom of this advert which is a hyperlink. The Central region is the lighter blue area and orange are of the map.

The Communications & Engagement Officer will join our Woodland Operations team, delivering the Central communications, engagement and events plan. This will include planning and running events, planning and delivering onsite visitor experience, supporting the Central PR and social media delivery, working with volunteers and the volunteering team. This will underpin and reflect the Trust's UK communications plan, which aims to engage and inspire communities, individuals and partners.

Regular travel will be required throughout the region to support staff and people engagement programmes. You'll be expected to attend regular meetings at the Woodland Trust head office in Grantham therefore a full driving licence is essential along with the ability to undertake travel across a wide area, sometimes to remote locations.

THE CANDIDATE You'll be experienced and exceptional in all mediums of communication. You will have experience of building successful relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, including volunteers. As a key public facing representative you'll need to have a professional approach who consistently delivers high standards. Finally we would like someone who has real imagination, energy and flair.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT There's no other organisation like the Woodland Trust. Whatever you do here you will be supporting our work to protect and enhance woods and trees. In return, we recognise and value our people. You'll have our full support, training and opportunities for professional development, along with contributory pension, life assurance and good holiday entitlement.
