Graduate Ecologist (5 Months Fixed Term, 02 April – 31 August)

MacArthur Green specialises in the provision of ecology, ornithology, hydrology, fisheries and peat consultancy services, to a number of sectors including renewable energy, transport and transmission. Our work covers the terrestrial and marine environments.
 
MacArthur Green’s friendly and highly specialist team deliver high value work to clients including some of the largest renewable developers in the United Kingdom, and indeed internationally, such as Vattenfall, ScottishPower Renewables, Scottish and Southern Energy Renewables, RES UK & Ireland and Brookfield, with numerous onshore as well as offshore renewables projects. We also work for the Crown Estate, the Scottish Government, Scottish Natural Heritage, Natural England and the UK Government. Our non-renewables projects include the A9 dualling project and Grangemouth Flood Alleviation Scheme and water utility frameworks.
 
We’re really busy and set to be even busier as the summer season approaches, so we need an enthusiastic and talented Graduate Ecologist to join MacArthur Green’s specialist team.
 
Job Description

 
This post will include the following responsibilities:

 Providing support to MacArthur Green field survey team.

  • Data entry.
  • Data digitisation.
  • Reporting.
  • Supporting ecological surveys.

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in an environmental field (Ecology, Zoology, Environmental Management).
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and a flexible and proactive approach to work.
  • Strong IT skills including, MS word and Excel.
  • A working understanding of GIS software. 
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home.
  • A passion for working outdoors in the elements.
  • A passion for ecology and the natural environment
  • This position will be based at our Glasgow office. 

A competitive salary will be offered dependent on experience.
