Head of Estate Management (RPL024)

£45,023 - £52,859 per annum (dependent on relevant skills and experience)

37.5 hours per week - based in Birmingham (other Sustran offices may be considered to suit successful candidate)

We are looking for a highly motivated Chartered Surveyor to manage Railway Paths Limited’s and Sustrans’ joint estate. This estate comprises a broad portfolio of primarily former railway land across the UK, in both urban and rural locations. It also includes Sustrans’ office premises across the UK and other premises to support projects, together with a small number of tenanted commercial and residential properties.

This role will be responsible for the overall strategic-level management of Railway Paths Limited (RPL) and Sustrans estates work including managing staff, resources and budgets. In addition to overseeing day-to-day management of the estate this role will include proactively strengthening RPL’s and Sustrans’ financial positions by increasing rental incomes, seeking out sales opportunities and reducing liabilities.

You will have substantial managerial experience of estate management of both urban and rural land and property including letting, sale and development processes. You will also have extensive experience of line management and leadership. The nature of our portfolio requires an imaginative problem solving approach to challenges and a keen eye for detail. You will be able to work flexibly and independently and enjoy regular travel around the UK. The successful candidate is likely to have either a commercial property or rural surveying background although other disciplines with the appropriate experience will be considered.
