Project Officer

£17,880 pa

Paid • Full Time • Permanent

Sectors: conservation & wildlife

Closing date: Friday, 2nd February 2018

Every day TCV works across the UK to create healthier and happier communities for everyone - communities where our activities have a lasting impact on people’s health, prospects and outdoor places.

The position, which is being offered at 35 hours per week, involves managing practical projects and other work, so volunteers have opportunities to become involved in a variety of ways and will include organising and implementing a varied programme of practical conservation projects. This will include finding suitable opportunities, negotiating with clients and implementing work which results in practical conservation, environmental improvements and/or environmental consultancy.

The Project Officer will be managed by the Operations Leader and will be based at Sale Water Park, Manchester. Duties will be varied, and widespread across sites throughout Greater Manchester, so a flexible and energetic approach will be necessary.

Suitable candidates will have a good working knowledge and experience of practical conservation work and have experience of working with communities, schools and other groups. Excellent practical and inter-personal skills are required and experience of costing practical activities and fundraising for projects is also desirable.

This position will involve driving a minibus, therefore applicants must ideally have passed their driving test before Jan 1997 or have a D1 category if passed after 1997, or be willing to be trained. For insurance purposes, drivers must have held a licence for two years and be over 21 years of age.

A bit more about us:

We recognise that each community and the people living there have different needs. Whether improving wellbeing, conserving a well-loved outdoor space or bringing people together to promote social cohesion and combat loneliness, TCV works together with communities to deliver practical solutions to the real life challenges they face.

For over 50 years we have adapted our work with volunteers to reflect the changing needs of communities in the UK and, by giving people a sense of purpose and belonging, we have empowered them to take control of their lives and outdoor spaces for the benefit of all.

Whilst our activities vary, our inclusive approach has remained consistent; bringing people and places together to create happy, healthy and connected communities for everyone.
