ABOUT US The Woodland Trust is the UK's leading woodland conservation charity. We want to see a UK rich in native woods and trees, for people and wildlife. The Trust aims to engage and inspire people about woods and trees to help us meet our vision of creating, restoring and protecting woodland. We own and care for over 1,000 woodland sites across the United Kingdom and support the creation and management of woodland on land outside the Trust's own estate.

In central England we own over 180 woods covering 3800 Ha.

THE ROLE Covering the east of England, east midlands and part of the west midlands, the Estate Manager will lead the site management team and the management of our estate in accordance with the Woodland Trust approach throughout central England, responsible for all aspects of management of the estate from management planning, database management, site risk assessment, tree safety and budget management to line management of the estate staff.

The role requires close collaborative working internally to integrate the estate across all areas of Trust activity, and with external stakeholders to build influence and raise the profile and professional standing of the Woodland Trust in the region. We'd also like you to support the development and delivery of our estate in line with our landscape scale approach to working, and our destination site program.

THE CANDIDATE You'll be qualified in an environmental, Forestry or conservation related field with experience of managing woodland and a good understanding of environmental and rural issues.

We'd like you to be able to manage projects and programmes of work effectively so experience of managing complex budgets and reporting against targets is essential. You'll also be responsible for the line management of the estate team of Site Managers, Contracts Managers and other operational staff so you'll need experience of line management, coaching and/or mentoring teams.

You'll be an outstanding developer of relationships, able to network and build influence with outside organisations such as the Forestry Commission and key external partners whilst representing the Trust in a professional, competent and positive manner. You must also be able to demonstrate the ability to work effectively with others understanding different perspectives and adapting your approach as situations change and inspiring others to work towards a positive solution
