Job Purpose

The Berkeley Group is a developer of residential-led, mixed-use schemes, with a history of creating successful and sustainable places.

The role of the Group Sustainability Reporting Advisor is to support the business by ensuring accurate and concise internal and external reporting of performance in sustainability and Our Vision (the strategic plan for the business). It is also to provide advice and support in incorporating sustainability into business operations and to promote good practice to improve performance.


The role will be based at our Head Office in Cobham, Surrey. However, some travel to offices and sites across London and the South of England will be required.

Please note our standard working hours are 8am until 5.30pm Monday to Friday.


Reporting to the Head of Sustainable Business and Reporting, key areas of responsibility will be to:

  • Aid the Group Sustainability Team in ensuring compliance with legislative (CRC and ESOS) and other (CDP) reporting mechanisms
  • Assist with the monitoring of Group progress towards targets within the Our Vision plan for the business
  • Adopt a proactive approach to improving data collection and communicating performance
  • Develop processes and reporting tools (including our online reporting system) to enable efficient data collection and analysis of information in areas such as energy, water and waste
  • Review data to identify possible errors and support operating companies in remedying any found
  • Provide both formal and informal training on the use of reporting tools and the need for accurate and timely data
  • Act as a point of contact for queries from the wider Sustainability Team regarding data collection, analysis and performance
  • Liaise with third party organisations to facilitate external audits and assurance of data
  • Benchmark key data against industry peers and out of sector world-class businesses
  • Identify areas for improvement in performance and highlight potential initiatives to achieve these improvements
  • Assist with the communication of sustainability performance across all levels of the business using a range of measures including written reports, presentations and attendance at meetings
  • Maintain performance-related data on the intranet and website


The right candidate will be highly numerate with strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and solve problems quickly. They will be motivated and enthusiastic about driving sustainability performance improvements. Knowledge and experience of data management and reporting, particularly within the field of sustainability, would be of particular interest.

They will also have:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data manipulation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to manage their own workload and prioritise tasks to meet key reporting deadlines
  • Expertise in interpreting data sets and translating them into meaningful messages
  • Confidence in working and communicating with people at all levels in an organisation
