Education Officer for The Farm Project at Abbey Home Farm

The Farm Project CIC (Community Interest Company) is based at Abbey Home Farm, a 1600 acre soil association organic farm and offers an unusual experience for children and young people through a short-stay residential on a working organic farm. Whilst here children and young people gain a deep understanding of where food comes from through hands-on growing, harvesting and cooking. They work with livestock and spend time in the woods building an awareness and appreciation for the natural world. Learning outside the classroom offers invaluable opportunities for personal development, building confidence and self-esteem. The nurturing environment (10 children/young people maximum at once) encourages positive relationships to be built between individuals and gives a general sense of wellbeing.

The Farm Project is now entering its third year, and is looking for an education officer to join its small friendly team. The successful candidate will have a deep knowledge of the natural world, and be enthusiastic, friendly, outgoing and passionate about young people and the countryside.  Experience of farm life or veg growing a definite advantage They will also have experience of delivering education and working with children and young people from a diverse range of backgrounds. The candidate will genuinely enjoy the company of children and young people (all day long!), be happy out in the woods whatever the weather and have a high mud tolerance.
