Position: Project Officer
Location: South Cumbria
Salary: circa £25 - 27k p.a. (depending on experience) plus pension and life assurance.

South Cumbria Rivers Trust was formed in 2006 to protect, conserve, monitor and restore the natural heritage of lakes, tarns, rivers, becks and estuaries in South Cumbria.

This is a new and exciting opportunity to scope, deliver and monitor practical river improvement projects throughout the iconic landscape of the South Lakes.

We are looking for an individual with proven experience in practical conservation, river restoration, fisheries and project management work. Knowledge and/or experience of working with natural processes and of Natural Flood Management techniques would be an advantage.

You will have excellent organisational, communication, presentation and reporting skills and you will need to demonstrate the proven ability to work with and build excellent relationships among a wide range of key partners including communities, farmers, landowners, volunteers and many others.

You will be a self-starter who thrives in the outdoors and demonstrates a committed, mature and flexible approach to your work. Knowledge and experience of practical river conservation work, river catchment and land management issues, agri-environmental schemes, aquatic based directives and invasive non-native species is essential.

You will be a graduate (or equivalent) in a scientific, environmental or Fisheries discipline and you will need to possess a clean UK/European driving licence and be physically fit.

You will be part of a small team reporting through SCRT line management to the Trust Director. You will be additionally supported by SCRT staff and its Trustees.
