BDS Conservation Outreach Officer

(FT / 37 hours per week)

Location East of England, within easy access of our Dragonfly Centre at Wicken Fen near Peterborough. Home-based or located within the offices of a partnership organisation.

We are seeking a first-class communicator and presenter for this new full-time post. Anyone applying should have excellent written and oral skills and be experienced in writing articles and press releases. You’ll have a keen interest in conservation and wetland habitats and be fully conversant with creating and updating all forms of social media content.

Job The person selected as our Conservation Outreach Officer will lead on communication and engagement activities involving conservation volunteers. You will promote the BDS and be a public ‘face’ of the Society, identifying conservation projects and creating partnerships with site managers to set up Dragonfly Hotspots.

Key Responsibilities

Publicising BDS activities, via press releases, social media and the BDS website. Establishing, managing and developing our new Local Outreach Volunteer Network. Identifying potential dragonfly conservation projects, assisting the fundraiser in gaining funding, and the management of the projects.
