You will be responsible for direction and oversight of the company’s marketing and communications activity. This will support each of the three delivery areas of evidence, insight and engagement in securing new work as well as promoting the success of current projects.

You will work closely with the Executive team to raise visibility of the CEO, Business Development Director, and Head of Resource Efficiency through media relations, events and content. As well as working with the Principal Consultants, Managers and Senior Consultants on seeking out opportunities to promote them, their projects and their workstreams.

Nature and scope

Communications and marketing activity supports all the Resource Futures team in delivering great work and attracting more work from existing and new customers. You will be involved in the following activities whilst the Head of Engagement and Communications is on maternity leave, supported by three members of the engagement team who will be available to help with some activity (e.g. design, internal communications, content development and social media).

  • Overall communications and marketing strategy for the company.
  • Raising the profile of the Executive team and other company spokespeople through media relations, events and content.
  • Refreshing the Resource Futures website (distinct project budget) and continuing to add new content to reflect the focus in the business plan.
  • Demonstrating our communications skills through our own website, social media channels and marketing materials.
  • Supporting the team with media relations, social media and general communications advice.
  • Drafting and approval of press releases, case studies and comments for release to the media.
  • Supporting development and approval of content from all Resource Futures spokespeople.
  • Approval of new social media channels for projects or company use and providing ongoing guidance for those running these channels.
  • Updating the Resource Futures brand templates and forms.
  • Supporting the team in keeping all CVs and tender information up to date and on brand.
  • Working with the CEO, Business Development Director, Head of Resource Efficiency and other senior staff to identify and develop new business opportunities.
  • Attending seminars and conferences, as well as managing our involvement at events, to promote the company to existing and potential clients.
  • Building core marketing materials to support our main propositions, such as waste analysis, options appraisals, feasibility testing, communications planning, education in schools, etc.
  • Supporting our active involvement with key networks such as CIWM, B Corp and The Bristol Green Capital Partnership.
  • Running internal training to share best practice on marketing and communications activity with the team.
  • Managing the development, approval and delivery of the Resource Futures e-newsletter.
  • Supporting the team with producing engaging presentations and proposals, including contributing to bids with communications insight and strategy.
  • Managing the Resource Futures social media channels – Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn – with support from a junior consultant.
  • Measuring and evaluating the success of the marketing and communications activity for Resource Futures and sharing this with the Executive and wider team on a monthly basis.

General responsibilities

  • Attending external and internal meetings as required.
  • Complying with company policies and processes.
  • Support the Executive team with content development for the bi-annual staff days.
