Using gardening to change lives!

Established in 1978, Thrive is the leading charity in the UK using gardening to change the lives of disabled people and providing training and consultancy to the Nature, Health & Wellbeing sector.

Social and therapeutic horticulture is the process of using plants and gardens to improve physical and mental health, as well as communication and thinking skills. It also uses the garden as a safe and secure place to develop someone's ability to mix socially, make friends and learn practical skills that will help them to be more independent. Thrive’s horticultural therapists help people of all ages and disabilities to improve their physical and mental health, social skills and wellbeing.

As a member of the Training, Education and Consultancy team, the Learning & Technology Officer will play a key role in developing and delivering training in Social & Therapeutic Horticulture and related subjects using learning technology and online platforms.

The successful candidate will have a confident and professional manner, experience of delivering training and education, and have good practical experience of using technology and multimedia to develop learning content.

This is a vital role within an expanding part of Thrive’s activities, where energy, initiative, organisation and flexibility will be rewarded with opportunities to develop your knowledge and skills in a field which is gaining increasing recognition amongst health and social care policy-makers. Crucially within the role you will utilise technology and innovative approaches to using web based learning platforms to support a growing community of practitioners.

For further information about the role, please contact Damien Newman, Training, Education & Consultancy Manager, on 0118 988 5688 or damien.newman@thrive.org.uk

Applications: Please send your CV and a supporting statement explaining how you meet the person specification and what you will bring to Thrive, to recruitment@thrive.org.uk

Closing date: 10am Monday 8th January 2018

Interviews: To be held at Thrive’s Head Office, Beech Hill, Reading, RG7 2AT on Thursday 18th January 2018
