Circa £24k pa, depending on qualifications and experience; fixed contract to 25 October 2019 during the development phase; full-time 35 hours per week; based at Curdridge, near Botley, Hampshire

On behalf of the Watercress & Winterbournes Landscape Partnership Board, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust has secured funding from Heritage Lottery Fund to develop a 5 year Landscape Partnership Scheme focused on the headwaters of the renowned Test and Itchen chalk rivers. The Watercress & Winterbournes project aims to harness communities at catchment level to improve the quality of this sensitive environment and its heritage, also promoting understanding and appreciation of the headwaters.

This post will liaise with partner organisations, landowners, community groups and individuals to establish catchment steering groups and develop catchment plans for the headwaters. At the same time the post will build up a volunteer base across the upper catchments of the rivers Test and Itchen to drive the main activities of the 2 year development phase of this project. There is a possibility of an extension to this role for a further 5 years if we are successful with our stage 2 application.

It is essential that applicants have experience of recruiting and working with volunteers and running activities such as survey programmes / citizen science and successful events. A sound knowledge and understanding of freshwater and/or conservation issues and the ability to enthuse and engage audiences on the subject will be required. Successful applicants will need to demonstrate excellent organisational and communication skills as well as the ability to build partnerships and deal with a variety of contacts.
