Become the face and voice of our open spaces, be a conservation guardian and a devotee of all things outdoors. We are looking for energetic, skilled and friendly individuals to join our new Ranger Service to help keep Fylde Council’s coastline, countryside and green spaces attractive and sustainable.

You will play a key role in helping to protect some of the most naturally spectacular stretches of coast in Lancashire, from leafy Lytham in the south, the sweeping beaches of St. Anne’s and the stunning sand dunes to the north. You will also play a fundamental part in promoting and improving Fylde’s heritage parks and spectacular rural countryside. Come rain or shine, your dedication to the outdoors will inspire others as you strive to ensure that Fylde’s environment and biodiversity is protected, beautifully cared for and continues to take our visitors’ breath away.

Candidates need to have a passion for wildlife, superb people skills and a background in managing land for nature conservation. You will work closely with our Senior Coast and Conservation Officer on existing projects as well as identify the best opportunities for exciting new ones, building these into a structured Ranger Service annual work-programme. You will also be business minded and appreciate the need for the service to generate income, which will play a key role in the team’s growth, sustainability and success.

You will be responsible for communicating with a wide range of audiences, both new and existing, through environmental education, events, guided walks and volunteer programmes. You will also build good relationships with the local community, being an identifiable, uniformed presence that provides visitors with a sense of welcome and personal safety.

This role is subject to Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance, reference checks and medical assessment. Please be aware that we are advertising a total of 3 x Area Conservation Ranger Posts (1 x permanent/ 2 x 5 year fix term contract).
