For this role: You will be mostly office based at Forde House, Newton Abbot with some business travel for site visits, training courses and attending community based daytime and evening meetings.

What you'll be doing

We have an opportunity for someone to play a leading role as part of our innovative and award winning Spatial Planning and Delivery Team as a Green Infrastructure Officer. We value energy, teamwork, innovation and an emphasis on delivery.

Your role will involve acting on key objectives of the Local Plan and Green Infrastructure Strategy. This means managing projects, studies and contracts to ensure that high quality new cycle routes and strategic open spaces are brought forward on time and to budget. Current projects include 65 ha of SANGS, a 40 ha priority species nature reserve and an average of 5 km of new cycleway per year.

You will also be responsible for developing the Green Infrastructure evidence needed to support our emerging cross-boundary Greater Exeter Strategic Plan, as well as Local Plan reviews and successful masterplans for strategic development allocations.

The work of the team supports the delivery of all of the Teignbridge Ten super projects, which are part of the Council’s ten year strategy 2016 – 2025, and the Green Infrastructure Officer’s responsibilities feature highly amongst the Council’s overall objectives.

Who we're looking for

We are looking for a highly motivated, results driven individual with a relevant degree and post-qualification experience in Green Infrastructure to lead and manage projects.

To be successful in this role you will need project management experience along with effective negotiation, influencing and problem solving skills. Knowledge of the Town and Country Planning system is also essential.
