About us

Joint Waste Solutions is a new organisation with big ambitions. We are responsible for managing the waste and recycling services for around 175,000 households and cleaning over 1,400 km of streets across four Surrey districts and boroughs – Elmbridge, Mole Valley, Surrey Heath and Woking. Over the next three years, we aim to reduce waste per head and increase recycling even further from our current level of 59%, whilst continuing to innovate and deliver a high quality, cost effective service to our residents.

We have recently procured a new contract for delivering these services and in Amey, we have found a partner who match our ambitions. The contract is currently being mobilised in phases across the partnership area, with the new service going/went live in Elmbridge (June) and Woking (September) this year, then rolling out in Surrey Heath and Mole Valley next year.

We currently have one vacancy that we would like to fill on a fixed term basis in order to take us through the mobilisation phase of this contract. Our intention is to then evaluate our organisational requirements and opportunities for development and the postholder will have the opportunity to apply for permanent positions at this stage.

About the role

The postholder will assist in the supervision and administration of the new waste contract in Woking, managing enquiries and helping to deliver continuous improvement and value for money across the service.

Whilst based initially in Woking, the postholder may work across the partnership area from time to time.

To be considered for this role, we are looking for someone who is positive, enthusiastic and a team player. You will also be analytical in your thinking and a strong communicator who is looking to work in a fast paced and varied role. Experience of working in waste or a related area would be advantageous.
