MacArthur Green specialises in the provision of ecological, hydrological, ornithological and peat consultancy services to a number of sectors including transport, transmission and renewable energy. Our work covers the terrestrial and marine environments.

Our team consists of a small, friendly and highly specialist team that deliver high value work to clients including the Crown Estate, the Scottish Government, Scottish Natural Heritage, Natural England and the UK Government. We also work for some of the largest renewable developers in the United Kingdom, and indeed internationally, such as Vattenfall, ScottishPower Renewables, Scottish and Southern Energy Renewables, RES UK & Ireland and Brookfield, with numerous onshore as well as offshore renewables projects. Our non-renewables projects include the A9 dualling project and Grangemouth Flood Alleviation Scheme.

We require a motivated and resourceful Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) to join MacArthur Green’s specialist team, which is based in Glasgow, to operate on construction sites throughout Scotland.

Job Description

This post will include the following responsibilities:

  • Undertaking pre-construction baseline surveys, and preparing suitable reports.
  • Undertaking site inspections and audits to monitor the performance of the construction works.
  • Reporting on compliance with consent conditions.
  • Liaising with statutory regulators on behalf of the client.
  • Providing guidance and advice to contractors and the client during the construction works.

The successful candidate will meet the following criteria:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in an environmental field (Ecology, Environmental Management).
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Minimum of one year’s experience in an ECoW role within a construction environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, and a flexible and proactive approach to work.
  • Ability to produce high quality site inspection and audit reports.
  • Strong IT skills including MS word and Excel.
  • Valid driving licence.
  • Willingness to travel and work away from home.
  • A passion for ecology and the natural environment.

This position will be site based on projects located in Scotland.

A competitive salary will be offered dependent on experience.
