The role will lead and facilitate the business in maturing its approach to measuring, reporting and managing all forms of its carbon impact. The role will use this knowledge to continually develop carbon policy, strategy and objectives. You will drive the business to achieve its carbon commitments, using your expertise to lead and support a broad range of projects to shape and embed best practice carbon management approaches across the Company and its supply chains. You’ll represent the Company at regional and national groups and events, and help the business obtain and maintain compliance with PAS2080 and/or other carbon standards, including supporting our ongoing compliance with the Carbon Trust Standard.

Your role will be varied, working at all levels, with many business departments and external stakeholders, and with opportunity to lead and support a range of projects that drive our programme of sustainability activity and ensure we continually improve our performance as a leading responsible business which is working in the best interests of our customers.

What skills are we looking for ?

  • A passion for sustainability; commitment to driving change for the better; innovative and resilient in the face of obstacles; and open to being challenged and ready to challenge others.
  • Knowledge and experience of leading, supporting and influencing assessments, projects and/or strategies to drive best practice sustainable business practices and ensure legal compliance, preferably with a carbon management focus.
  • Understanding of sustainability legislation, management issues and best practices.
  • Experience of influencing colleagues at all levels of authority.
  • Experience of communicating technical information to others in a way they can understand.
  • Experience of analysing data and applying findings, for example to make the case for change.
