Job Title: Sustainability Advisor
Location: Flexible (homeworking with office accommodation available if needed)
Salary: £35,235 - £37,035 per annum (pro rata for part-time, 21 hours/week)
Contract Type: Fixed term until 31 March 2028
Reporting to: Head of Business Services
About the role
Cambridgeshire ACRE is looking for an experienced and driven Sustainability Advisor to join our team. In this pivotal role, you’ll help community building trustees across Cambridgeshire make their facilities sustainable, guiding them toward carbon neutrality. From energy audits and tailored implementation plans to resource creation and delivering workshops, you’ll provide high-quality advice and support to empower communities to take meaningful climate action.
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct energy audits for community buildings and develop actionable sustainability plans.
- Deliver advice and guidance on energy efficiency, funding opportunities, and sustainability initiatives through consultations, workshops, and tailored resources.
- Support the development of networking and peer learning events, with a strong focus on sustainability.
- Stay informed about legislation, policy changes, and funding schemes relevant to community building sustainability.
- Produce engaging communications, including newsletters, case studies, and blogs, to promote Cambridgeshire ACRE’s services.
The person we’re looking for
We’re seeking a motivated professional who can bring their sustainability expertise to life in a community-focused setting. You’ll be:
Knowledgeable and experienced in:
- Energy efficiency technologies, renewable energy, and building systems.
- Conducting energy audits and creating detailed action plans.
- Navigating funding opportunities and supporting grant applications.
- Engaging with and empowering community groups and volunteers.
- Broader sustainability themes, including waste reduction, water management, biodiversity, and climate adaptation.
Skilled in:
- Communicating effectively, including creating written content for reports, newsletters, and online platforms.
- Delivering workshops, webinars, and one-on-one consultations.
- Managing partnerships and fostering multi-agency collaboration.
- Organising events and stakeholder engagement activities.
- Using tools like Microsoft Office, Teams, and (ideally) HubSpot for collaboration and record-keeping.
Personally:
- Self-motivated, organised, and proactive.
- Able to manage deadlines, prioritise tasks, and maintain attention to detail.
- Committed to continuous learning and professional development.
- Flexible, with the ability to travel across Cambridgeshire for meetings and events (including occasional evening/weekend work).
