Celtic Harmony
This is an exciting position for someone interested in leading conservation volunteers and volunteer trainees in the outdoor environment and supporting the education team for family and school day and residential events.
The role includes leading conservation tasks, volunteer planning and activity resource preparation, volunteer recruitment and customer service.
You will be hands-on leading conservation volunteers with site and facilities maintenance at Celtic Harmony Camp, the UK’s largest reconstructed Iron Age settlement, Bourne Wood. The role involves mentoring trainees ensuring the successful integration of volunteers on a day-to-day basis. You will also capture volunteer data to ensure they have a meaningful and enriching experience, gaining new skills and evaluating volunteer progress.
We are looking for an individual who is practical and experienced working outdoors with volunteers with an interest in heritage and environmental conservation. You’ll be passionate about supporting our mission to inspire people about the natural environment and wellbeing through Prehistory. Your role will be to coordinate volunteer activities, H&S on the ground and mentoring trainees as part of the Lavina’s Legacy Skills of the Past for the Future program.
Celtic Harmony has 25 years’ experience, providing formal and informal education opportunities to work with natural materials in a Prehistory settlement located in native woodland. The charity aims to improve the well-being of children, young people and adults through an emotive experience, creating a more sustainable future in harmony with the natural world. Celtic Harmony holds the Learning Outside the Classroom Badge for the high quality of outdoor education and is the UK School Trips 2023 Education Team of the Year.

This job is for you if:
- You have minimum 2 years’ experience of supervising volunteer / youth groups with mentoring responsibility or a similar role.
- You have a range of practical countryside management and basic maintenance skills with qualifications in outdoor activity such as chain saw or strimming and/or experience in coppicing / woodland management.
- You have knowledge of relevant health & safety with regard to working with volunteers.
- You have the ability to communicate confidently and with enthusiasm to a wide variety of people.
- You have excellent organisational skills
- You have your own transport, Celtic Harmony Camp is in a rural location.
- You have a flexible approach and work effectively within a team
- You have a ‘Can do’ attitude and willingness and ability to get the job done.
Remuneration: £27,000 (40 hours a week)
