Purpose of the job
As a Forest Craftsperson, you are an integral part of the beat team, who are responsible for managing the Nations Forests across Thetford and North Norfolk.
We depend on our Craftspeople to meet high standards, whilst working remotely to complete a range of practical outdoor tasks in all weathers. These include large-scale tree planting, mechanical weeding, chainsawing and fixing broken gates.
Person specification
We are looking for people with enthusiasm, good communication skills, resourcefulness, and an ability to work safely and productively as part of a team and independently. The work tasks require driving to site, sometimes towing a trailer.
We expect Craftspeople to be able to:
- Operate and maintain tools and resources to required standards and ensure that a safe working site and safe working methods are maintained.
- Work constructively and effectively with immediate work colleagues and the wider Forest District Team.
- Be capable of planning, undertaking and recording their practical tasks without supervision.
- Take pride in their work and act professionally when dealing with members of the public, neighbours and other stakeholders.
You will need a commitment to achieving results through working flexibly and supportively both on your own and as part of a small team.
