HalpinRobbins are seeking to recruit a full-time Ecologist to join our friendly team based on the Devon/Somerset border. We work on a broad range of projects from public sector infrastructure to small domestic clients and are seeking someone ready to take the next step in their career, helping us to deliver ecological and environmental consultancy services nationwide.

Based close to the Devon/Somerset border, we extend our services across England and Wales. Providing environmental and ecological work to individuals, companies and government organisations for development and conservation.

The role

  • Undertake ecological surveys for a variety of protected species and habitats, including bats, reptiles and badgers.
  • Report writing for Ecological Impact Assessments (EcIA) including completing desk studies and collating and analysing survey data.
  • Professional liaison with clients and colleagues
  • Undertaking Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) roles
  • Opportunities to assist with the Environmental Consultancy department including Nutrient Balance Assessments and shadow Habitat Regulations Assessments.
  • 37.5hrs per week

Requirements

  • Excellent organisational and communication skills
  • Full driving licence
  • Experience in report writing, client liaison and project management
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Experience of undertaking protected species surveys (bats in particular)
  • Experience of Ecological Clerk of Works
  • Protected Species licence – Bat level 1 or higher
  • Experience with QGIS/ AutoCAD
  • CIEEM membership or be eligible for membership

Desirable

  • Previous experience of analysing bat sound files
  • Relevant degree in Ecology or similar
  • Previous experience within an ecological consultancy
  • Other protected species licenses
