Partnership and Visitor Experience Manager
Sheffield City Council
Sheffield is an amazing city with a proud heritage and a prosperous future. We’re a city on the up, alive with activity and energy and bursting with talent. Sheffield is also one of the greenest cities in Britain!
The Parks and Countryside Service are responsible for the management of a wonderful and vast array of parks, woodlands and green spaces. This includes 95 parks, recreation grounds and gardens, three Visitor and Education Centres, more than 150 children’s playgrounds, 15 bike tracks, 181 woodlands, 81 allotment sites, 262 Nature Conservation sites including 18 Green Flag sites across Sheffield.
We couldn’t nor would we want to do this alone, we work with a range of fantastic partners including voluntary and community sector organisations, businesses, and volunteers. Through these collaborations we combine our collective experience, knowledge and skills to maximise opportunities to maintain, develop and protect this vital green resource for the people of Sheffield.
As the Partnership and Visitor Experience Manager a key focus of your role will be to develop and nurture the relationships we have with key stakeholders, volunteers and organisations, all working together towards Sheffield’s Green and Open Spaces Strategy ambitions. We are committed to assisting groups and individuals to take a greater interest and active role in the improvement, management, use, access and conservation of public green spaces and facilities.
You will be responsible for the management and development of the services at our Visitor and Education destinations across the city including Sheffield’s Botanical Gardens and Ecclesall Woods Discovery Centre. Overseeing the day-to-day management as well as business planning.
A key element to supporting both the Ecclesall Woods Discovery Centre and the Gardens ‘Botanical’ status is having an education and engagement offer delivered in partnership to reach key target audiences. You will focus your efforts on facilitating the continuation of this engagement activity within these settings and growing this offer to other sites across the city.
We are excited to be recruiting to this important new role, which will join the award-winning Parks and Countryside service within Sheffield City Council! We are looking for someone who loves working with people and someone who will bring their energy, passion and drive to this varied and valuable role for Sheffield!
