Are you a passionate and enthusiastic marine conservationist with experience in seagrass
restoration, volunteering and citizen science?
We are pleased to announce we have a position available as a Seagrass Project Assistant. If you enjoy working in practical marine conservation, then please take a look at the details within the role description to see if this is the role for you.
The role is full time, 37.5 hours per week, on a fixed term basis until the 31 March 2025.
The post holder will aid in the development and co-ordination of our marine survey and citizen science programmes for seagrass projects. This role will involve training volunteers for conducting the different surveys used to indicate the health of seagrass beds and the viability of potential restoration sites.
The aim of this post is to roll out a low-cost method for restoring intertidal seagrass that can be implemented and monitored by local communities, starting on the Helford estuary with planting scheduled for autumn 2024.
There will also be administrative, marketing and marine team support responsibilities. Excellent written and communications skills are essential, as this role will involve public events and engagement. Strong IT skills and a working knowing of a variety of social media platforms is also essential for this role.
This post will work to support the project until the end of March 2025 but we have ambition for it to continue (TBC).
