Sheffield has a rich variety of wonderful parks and green spaces that contribute to our reputation as an Outdoor City and within these spaces we manage over 150 play and recreational facilities.

These outdoor play and recreational spaces have a very real impact on both the quality of Sheffield’s parks and green spaces and the health and wellbeing of people city wide, especially children and families of all abilities. We are recruiting a new Playground Operative to join the team who are responsible for playground maintenance, repair, improvement and inspection.

Ideally you will have a construction orientated background, preferably in the public sector; experience of the repair, maintenance, inspection and installation of play equipment would be an advantage.

We are looking for someone who is/has:

  • Enthusiastic and motivated about the outdoor play provision and its upkeep.
  • Good practical skills, with experienced in repairs and maintenance of facilities in public spaces
  • A good team player
  • A good communicator and is happy in a public facing role
  • Able to travel within Sheffield and occasionally outside of the city

As you may be asked to drive a Council vehicle, an ability to drive is essential.

If appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
