We have an exciting opportunity for a Project Manager to develop and manage a set of diverse projects.

The successful post holder will sit within the Land team in Wales and will develop and deliver projects ranging from conservation to community-focused to infrastructure.

You’ll be part of our mission to inspire and empower people to help create a world that is richer in nature, where birds and other wildlife are thriving for the benefit of everyone, so we want somebody with enthusiasm and passion to help us tackle the joint climate and nature crises.

The post holder will need to have access to a vehicle (though we will try and provide a hire vehicle where possible depending on location). The post is a combination of home-working and site/location based work. Some office facilities will be available at the new office working location for North Wales staff, at Gaerwen, Anglesey or central Cardiff, although the Cardiff office location is subject to change.  

We need you to:

  • be well organised, flexible and adaptable to take on a diverse workload, with excellent communication skills to develop collaborative working relationships across RSPB teams and external stakeholders, to motivate and inspire others to get things done.
  • have excellent project management skills, to develop and manage projects yourself whilst supporting colleagues to build project management capability across the organisation
  • be able to manage and prioritise competing demands.
  • be competent at managing project processes to ensure things go smoothly, risks are managed and to be solutions-focused to help sort problems if they arise.

Essentials skills, knowledge and experience:

  • Proven project/programme management skills to plan and manage programmes and projects, manage risks, costs, time and project teams.
  • Ability to influence others, communicate effectively, build collaborative relationships and represent the organisation.
  • Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances.
  • Ability to solve issues quickly, efficiently and creatively.
  • An ability to advise others on project management methodologies and approach.
  • Great interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with people and to motivate and lead others.
  • Logical, methodical, analytical and with a good eye for detail.
  • Impressive time management and organisational skills.
  • Experience of successfully managing budgets.
  • Experience of working within a Project Framework
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Competent IT user (full Microsoft office suite of tools)
  • A tangible passion for the planet.

Desirable qualifications, knowledge, skills and experience

  • Project Management Qualification or appropriate training (ie PRINCE2 etc)
  • Experience of working with external stakeholders such as agencies and contractors.
  • Demonstrable experience of developing and working in partnerships to achieve shared outcomes.

This is a Fixed-Term/ Full-Time role for 6 months at 37.5 hours per week.
