The ABLE Project

The ABLE Project is a 35 acre care-farm based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, with a second development underway at Heckmondwike in Kirklees. The farm is based on the principles of sustainability in environment and society and in addition to running a fish farm and a large allotments site with bees and chickens, The ABLE Project works extensively with vulnerable and disadvantaged groups from the local community on developing vocational and social skills. Clients and visitors have a chance to get involved with the day to day farming operations as well as training in a variety of areas from joinery and woodwork to beekeeping and bicycle maintenance.
