Course: UK Habitat Classification (UKHab)

TCV Scotland

22nd March 2024

Cost: £180 (includes vat)

Sectors: ecology, conservation & wildlife

UK Habitat Classification (UKHab) has been recently updated to Version 2. UKHab is a relatively new comprehensive vegetation classification but it is rapidly replacing Phase 1 Habitat Survey in Preliminary Ecological Assessments. UKHab is an essential tool for assessing habitat ‘Distinctiveness’ as part of the Biodiversity Metric used for Biodiversity Net Gain assessments for development planning applications. UKHab also has many uses in land management and conservation projects, as a relatively rapid methodology compared with NVC, and can be paired with condition assessments and detailed botanical surveys when recording and assessing sites.

Programme for the day (10.00 to 15.30): Timings are approximate but will be confirmed at the start of the day with attendees and there will be plenty of time for breaks and discussion:

  • 10.00 Introductions and outline for the day

  • Break
