Lancashire Wildlife Trust’s Myplace Project are pleased to be able to currently offer an AQA accredited course called “WildWorks – an introduction to work within the environmental sector”. This course is run for free at no cost to individuals and doesn’t require individuals to have any prior experience of working in the environment sector. Online and practical courses are available. The online course is run over 12-hours online with 6-hours practical work delivered outside at the end. The practical course is run over the course of 6-weeks at various sites across Central Lancashire (Preston, Chorley, Leyland).

The course covers the following topics:

  • Woodland Conservation
  • Surveying Wildlife
  • Plant Propagation
  • Use and Care of Hand Tools
  • Team Building
  • Health & Safety and Risk Assessment

To be eligible for this course:

  • Individuals must be 18 and over
  • Individuals must not be in any paid work
  • Individuals must be resident to Lancashire
  • Individuals must have access to a tablet/pc/laptop (smart phone can be considered) and decent internet signal from home (for online course only)
  • Individuals must have the right to live and work in the UK
  • Individuals must attend all sessions in order to receive the award
