Join us for the next in our series of free online webinars. On 10 March, Senior Lecturer on CAT’s MArch Sustainable Architecture course Gwyn Stacey will explore how we can make our homes and buildings more wildlife friendly, and the role of the architecture and building industry in helping nature thrive.
This winter’s free webinars feature our Graduate School lecturers, Short Course tutors and guest speakers, introducing a wide range of sustainability topics, from habitat management and biodiverse gardening to climate change psychology and a just transition.
Nature friendly homes and buildings
Making our built environment more nature friendly is an important step to combat the climate and biodiversity emergency.
In this webinar sustainable architecture lecturer, Gwyn Stacey, will look at what householders can do, and what the building and architecture industry needs to do to make our homes, gardens, towns and cities more nature friendly.
Gwyn will explore ways we can lower the impact of construction, looking at sustainable building materials, embodied carbon, and the potential and benefits of retrofitting buildings. He’ll discuss the need to collaborate with ecologists and nature specialists when planning, landscaping and building to ensure our built environment works with and for nature.
On a household level, Gwyn will offer practical tips on ways we can make space for wildlife in our own homes and gardens. From building hedgehog highways to turning the lights off, Gwyn will look at the small steps that collectively have a big impact for nature.
