What do I need to bring?

  • Reading glasses if you use them
  • Notebook and pen or pencil
  • Camera if you want to record ideas
  • Comfortable, warm outdoor layers of clothes for the weather on the day
  • Comfortable and stout footwear
  • Packed lunch and any cold drinks you will need

Please do not bring your own tools, all equipment will be provided by the tutor.

Hot drinks and biscuits will be provided during the day.

The course will give the participants some hands on experience of different activities and low cost resource ideas for making the most of learning outside with a focus on developing literacy skills all set in our beautiful new reserve, Barton Meadow near Winchester.

We will focus on:

  • The learning and development benefits of holistic play
  • How to plan for the outdoors
  • Health and safety considerations

All participants will receive a copy of ‘Wildlife in School Grounds’ which is a booklet of practical suggestions for improving your outside space for wildlife and learning, and an EYFS Outdoors hand-out to accompany the course.
