We are offering this course to anyone who is currently or will be running a project that may incur ecological constraints. Therefore, if you are a homeowner, contractor, architect, an ecological consultant or a planner this is a morning not to be missed.

Our Ecology Services Managing Director, Gabrielle Graham, will be providing information on the basic understanding of local and national legislation. She will describe the planning policy frameworks which drive the need for ecological surveys and confirm the best times of year to undertake these. An overview will be given of the main protected species that must be considered when starting a project. Finally, she will provide ways to identify opportunities for ecology in all of your projects.

Tutor - Gabrielle Graham

Gabrielle’s experience working on large-scale projects in the infrastructure, renewable energy and housing development markets comes from an extensive career in the ecology sector. She holds a Level 2 Bat Class Survey licence and has been the named ecologist on a mitigation licence. Gabrielle has also undertaken Habitat Regulations Assessments for a number of sites in the Thames Basin Heaths Special Protection Area (SPA); Ecological Impact Assessments for a number of housing developments, overhead power lines and wind farm developments and protected species surveys. Gabrielle has managed multi-disciplinary teams of ecologists on a number of large infrastructure projects including East West Rail and underground power cables. When not working, which does occasionally happen, Gabrielle enjoys exploring the Surrey hills (and pubs!).
